Our Mission: “Making a Difference”
We are a group of men and women who meet to offer a welcoming hand to those with some AVP experience, who are going through the transition back to society. We have learned that often the most difficult bid begins upon release from prison.
New York City:
When: First Tuesday and the third Wednesday of every month, 6pm—9pm
Where: Friends (Quaker) Meetinghouse
15 Rutherford Place, NY, NY 10003
corner of East 15th St. and Rutherford Place which is between 2nd and 3rd Avenues and 15th and 16th Streets (Take the N, R, L or 4, 5, or 6 trains to 14 Street-Union Square.) Refreshment as well as transportation reimbursement ($5) are provided at the meetings.
Rochester:
When: First Thursday of every month, 5pm—7pm
Where: Church of the Ascension
2 Riverside St., Rochester, NY 14613 (corner of Lake Ave. and Riverside)
First floor library. Refreshment is provided.
Landing Strip serves those interested in finding a safe place where the challenges of transition can be shared openly and most importantly, understood by those who have already "been there" and face the same challenges.
At this time we do not have services such as housing, job references, food or clothing. What we do have is continuing “a community based on honesty, respect and caring.” Our members give out on-going information that is helpful in the transition process.

Somos un grupo de hombres y mujeres que nos reunimos para ofrecer la bienvenida a aquellos que tienen algo de experiencia en el PAV y que están pasando por la transición de vuelta a la sociedad. Sabemos que la experiencia más difícil empieza a menudo cuando se es liberado.
En New York City:
Cuándo: El primer martes y el tercer miércoles de cada mes, 6pm—9pm
Dónde: Casa de Encuentro de los Amigos (Cuáqueros)

Esquina de las calles 15 y Rutherford Place que está entre la segunda y tercera Avenidas. (Usen trenes N, R, L o 4, 5, o 6 a la estación: 14 Street-Union Square.) Se proveerá un refrigerio o merienda y reembolso de transporte ($5).
En Rochester:
Cuándo: El primer jueves de cada mes, 5pm—7pm
Dónde: Iglesia de la Ascensión

(Esquina de la Avenida Lake y Calle Riverside)
En el primer piso en la biblioteca. Se ofrecerá un refrigerio o merienda.
Landing Strip sirve a aquellas personas interesadas en encontrar un lugar seguro donde los desafíos de la experiencia de transición pueden ser compartidos abiertamente y lo más importante: ser entendidos por quienes ya han estado allí y enfrenten las mismas dificultades.
En este momento, no tenemos servicios tales como: vivienda, referencias de empleo, comida ni ropa. Lo que sí hacemos es continuar con una “comunidad basada en la honestidad, el respeto y el afecto.” Nuestros miembros ofrecen información valiosa que ayuda en el proceso de transición.
